Editing this wiki
Anyone can read this wiki. Only approved editors can change it, which keeps spam and vandalism off pages people rely on in the middle of a stream.
Getting edit access
- Register with the Register link at the top of any page. Use a real email address, because your password is sent to it.
- On Discord, post your wiki username in
#wiki-talk, with a line about what you'd like to work on. - A Trusted member adds you to the wiki's editors group and gives you the Wiki Editor role on Discord. You can then edit every page except the rules and the source-code policy.
Not sure yet? Suggest the change in #docs-ideas on Discord instead and someone else will make it.
How we write
- For the person on the street with a phone. Short sentences, plain words, the button names in bold exactly as they appear on screen.
- Say what to do, then why. Steps first, explanation after.
- One page per topic. Link to another page rather than copying it:
[[companion:warnings#getting-hot|getting hot]]. - No secrets in screenshots. Blank out every overlay URL, key, token, stream key and invite command before uploading.
- Keep it current. If a screen has changed, fix the page. If you're not sure, ask in
#docs-ideas. - Use the summary box when you save. “Fixed the Tailscale steps for 1.80” helps whoever looks at the history next.
The formatting help covers everything DokuWiki can do. Headings, lists, tables, links and images are all most pages need.
History and mistakes
Every save is kept. Old revisions on any page shows every version, who made it and what changed, and restoring an old one takes one click. You can't break anything permanently.
Your contributions
